Atopy is associated with age at asthma onset in elderly patients
The Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology: In Practice Nov 30, 2017
Agondi RC, et al. - In this study, elderly asthmatics were assessed for the prevalent atopy and comorbidities. Atopy, as suggested by higher values of total serum IgE, was present in most of the elderly asthmatic patients followed up in researchers' tertiary center. There was an inverse correlation of atopy with age of asthma onset. As per observations, for more proper treatment, better quality of life and less asthma-associated morbidity and mortality, the diagnosis of allergic asthma in the elderly population is essential.
