Atherosclerosis and renal disease involvement in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus: A cross-sectional cohort study
Rheumatology Jul 20, 2018
Hermansen ML, et al. - In a cross-sectional study of patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), researchers gauged the relationship between lupus nephritis (LN), renal function and atherosclerosis measured by coronary artery calcium (CAC) and carotid plaque. Findings suggested a strong association of LN in combination with an impaired renal function (defined by an estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) <70 ml/min/1.73 m2) with the presence of atherosclerosis in SLE.
