Cure E, et al. - Experts sought to assess whether the atherogenic index of plasma (AIP) could act as an accurate marker for the detection of subclinical atherosclerosis in ankylosing spondylitis. Carotid artery intima-media thickness (cIMT) values and AIP demonstrated a strong and independent association. Hence, for the detection of subclinical atherosclerosis, AIP could serve as a better marker than the total cholesterol (TC)/high-density lipoprotein level (HDL) ratio.
