Associations of the IL-1B level, IL-1A and IL-1B gene polymorphisms and ankylosing spondylitis risk in a Chinese Han population
Cytokine Nov 24, 2019
Liu W, et al. - By performing this investigation in a Chinese population, researchers wanted to know how ankylosing spondylitis (AS) susceptibility in these individuals would be influenced by IL-1A (interleukin 1A) and IL-1B (interleukin 1B) gene polymorphisms. They also assessed the link of IL-1B level with different genotype of rs2853550 polymorphism and clinicopathological characteristics of AS patients. They detected markedly higher plasma levels of IL-1B in cases and AA genotype carriers. In subgroup analyses, they found that AS patients exhibited no significant link between plasma IL-1B level and gender, age, HLA-B27, C-reactive protein, or grade of the sacroiliac joint. High plasma levels were detected in AS patients when these patients were compared with control participants, while significant differences were revealed between the IL-1B rs2853550 AA genotypes. In this study, IL-1B rs2853550 AG was identified as a genetic contributor to AS risk in a Chinese population.
