Associations of telomere length in risk and recurrence of prostate cancer: A meta-analysis
Andrologia May 22, 2019
Hu R, et al. - Researchers analyzed the association studies of telomere length (TL) and the risk and recurrence of prostate cancer (PCa). They performed a literature review and identified relevant studies published in English on or prior to 10 January 2019 from PubMed, EMBASE and Cochrane Library. This meta-analysis included 12 studies (with 19 data sets). Findings revealed a positive link of shorter telomeres in patients with PCa, but without statistical importance. They found a positive correlation of shorter telomeres in stroma and epithelium, with PCa. However, in leucocyte, these had a negative relation with PCa. For the link between shorter TL and metastasis, a pooled OR of 2.87 was yielded by two studies combined.
