Associations of sleep quality with incident atrial fibrillation: A meta-analysis
Internal Medicine Journal Jul 01, 2018
Chokesuwattanaskul R, et al. - Researchers assessed the relationships of sleep duration, insomnia and frequent awakening with atrial fibrillation (AF) through a systematic review and meta-analysis. From inception through September 2017, a systematic review was conducted in MEDLINE, EMBASE, Cochrane databases to identify studies that assess the risk of AF in adults with short sleep duration, long sleep duration, insomnia, and/or frequent awakening. No association was found between AF and sleep duration. However, there were significant relationships between AF and both insomnia and frequent nocturnal awakening.
