Associations of sleep and female sexual function: Good sleep quality matters
Menopause Jun 13, 2021
Kling JM, Kapoor E, Mara K, et al. - Researchers investigated whether and how sleep is associated with female sexual function. From the Data Registry on Experiences of Aging, Menopause and Sexuality, a cross-sectional analysis of women presenting for menopause or sexual health consult at Mayo Clinic from December, 2016 to September, 2019, was conducted. This analysis involved 3,433 women (mean age 53). Findings showed greater odds of female sexual dysfunction in relation to poor sleep quality but not sleep duration. An association was found between good sleep quality and sexual activity. Besides its myriad impacts on health, poor sleep quality demonstrated a link with female sexual dysfunction.
