Associations of pregnancy-related factors and birth characteristics with risk of endometrial cancer: A Nordic population-based case-control study
International Journal of Cancer Jun 13, 2019
Trabert B, et al. - Using population-based register data from four Nordic countries, researchers examined the associations of pregnancy-related factors, pregnancy complications, and birth features, with the risk of endometrial cancer, overall and by subtype, in this nested case-control analysis. Overall 10,924 endometrial cancer cases and up to 10 matched controls per case were included. Increased endometrial cancer risk was observed in relation to pre-existing and pregnancy-related hypertensive conditions, with consistent links across dualistic Type. Attenuated endometrial cancer risk were reported in relation to increasing number of pregnancies and shorter time since last birth, with consistent links across most subtypes. For endometrial cancer, the role for both hormonal exposures and cell clearance as well as immunologic/inflammatory causes was supported.
