Associations between weight loss, kidney function decline, and risk of ESRD in the Chronic Kidney Disease in Children (CKiD) Cohort Study
American Journal of Kidney Diseases Nov 16, 2017
Ku E, et al. - Researchers examined the associations between weight loss, kidney function decline, and risk of end-stage renal disease (ESRD) among participants followed between 2005 to 2013 in the CKD in Children (CKiD) Study. Findings revealed that a decrease in estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) to <35 mL/min/1.73 m2 was mostly accompanied by weight loss in children and adolescents with chronic kidney disease (CKD). Notably, this weight loss was found to be related to higher risk for ESRD.
