Associations between milk fat content and obesity, 1999 to 2016
Pediatric Obesity Jan 10, 2020
White MJ, et al. - Expert explored whether milk fat content is correlated with obesity in children, adolescents and young adults. Between 1999 to 2016, they applied repeated cross sections of National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. Associations between first milk consumed after formula/breast milk and weight status were assessed by applying logistic regression among children 2 to 6 years. They further assessed whether current milk type associated with weight status among 2 to 20 years of age. It was noted that there was very lack risk of obesity in whole milk consumers. It is not clear whether this association is causal or a reflection of US Department of Agriculture recommendations. Moreover, future investigation of the factors that affect milk choice among diverse cohorts would lend clarify to this meaningful issue.
