Associations between migraine and type 2 diabetes in women: Findings from the E3N cohort study
JAMA Neurology Mar 14, 2019
Fagherazzi G, et al. - Via this study of 74,247 women in a French national cohort, researchers examined how migraine is linked with type 2 diabetes incidence. In addition, they evaluated the development of the prevalence of active migraine before and after type 2 diabetes diagnosis. As per findings, women with active migraine show a lower risk of type 2 diabetes. In addition, they noted a linear decrease of migraine prevalence long before and a plateau long after type 2 diabetes diagnosis. The results suggest that both hyperglycemia and hyperinsulinism play a potential role in migraine occurrence.
