Gottesman RF, et al. - An inquiry was performed of the Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities' (ARIC) candidates in midlife. This study also gauged the link between midlife vascular risk factors and 25-year dementia incidence. A correlation was brought to light between the midlife vascular risk factors with increased risk of dementia in black and white ARIC Study enrollees. In order to assess the mechanism of and opportunities for prevention of the cognitive sequelae of these risk factors in midlife, advanced research was necessitated.
