Associations between depression/anxiety and headache frequency in migraineurs: A cross-sectional study
Headache: The Journal of Head and Face Pain Apr 09, 2018
Chu TT, et al. - Researchers examined depression/anxiety among migraineurs. They noted that Beck's Depression Inventory (BDI) total scores were highest in patients with chronic migraines, followed by those with high frequency, medium frequency, low frequency, and lowest in nonmigraine controls, with a significant trend in frequency; similar results were obtained for Hospital Anxiety and Depression Subscales (HADS) scores. Both aura-present and aura-absent subgroups showed the relationship between BDI score and migraine frequency. Thereby suggesting that higher migraine frequency, either with or without auras, correlated with higher symptom scores of anxiety and depression.
