Associations between body size and outcomes of adult in-hospital cardiac arrest: A retrospective cohort study
Resuscitation Jul 14, 2018
Wang CH, et al. - Whether or not body size is correlated with outcomes of in-hospital cardiac arrest (IHCA) patients was investigated. Researchers performed a retrospective study in a single center including 766 adult patients experiencing IHCA between 2006 and 2015. Findings suggested worse outcomes following IHCA in association with higher body mass index and thoracic anteroposterior diameter. They recommend performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation under the guidance of physiological parameters to improve outcomes among these patients rather than a “one-size-fits-all” resuscitation algorithm.
