Associations between adult height and type 2 diabetes mellitus: A systematic review and meta-analysis of observational studies
Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health Apr 12, 2019
Shrestha S, et al. - Researchers assessed currently available evidence on the links between adult height and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), investigated if these links vary by sex, and assessed the shapes of the height and T2DM relationships. Of the 25 studies that met inclusion criteria for the systematic review, 16 (9 cross-sectional studies and 7 cohort studies; n=261,496) were included in the meta-analysis. An increased risk of T2DM was observed in relation to shorter height, and the link did not significantly differ by sex. With respect to the shape of the relationship between height and T2DM, data were insufficient to draw any conclusion.
