Cancer May 20, 2018
Xiao C, et al. - Researchers evaluated the relationship between human papillomavirus (HPV) and fatigue. They also assessed if biological mechanisms of fatigue, including inflammation, were influenced by HPV. An important marker of vulnerability to the behavioural and immune consequences of SCCHN and its treatment was provided by HPV status which provided support for different symptom management strategies. In patients with HPV-unrelated tumours, special emphasis ought to be placed on addressing marked persistent fatigue, whereas, among patients with HPV-related tumours, attention ought to be paid to the large increases in fatigue during treatment.
