Association of urinary metal profiles with serum uric acid: A cross-sectional study of traffic policemen in Wuhan, China
BMJ Open May 17, 2019
Dai X, et al. - In this cross-sectional study involving 186 traffic policemen, researchers examined urinary metal profile associations with serum uric acid (SUA) in Wuhan, China. According to results, the significantly negative association between single-metal and multi-metal models of lead with SUA was consistent. The authors concluded that SUA was negatively linked to urinary vanadium, chromium, tin, and lead. The levels of SUA were affected by vanadium and cigarette smoking together. A high correlation between chromium and vanadium was also noted.
