Association of thromboembolic risk score with left atrial thrombus and spontaneous echocardiographic contrast in non-anticoagulated nonvalvular atrial fibrillation patients
Cardiology Jun 22, 2018
Huang J, et al. - Researchers performed this study on consecutive non-anticoagulated nonvalvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF) patients with or without left atrial thrombus (LAT)/spontaneous echocardiographic contrast (SEC) by transesophageal echocardiography to assess the relationship between CHADS2/CHA2DS2-VASc scores with LAT and SEC in these subjects identified in the Guangdong General Hospital. In addition, they intended to develop a new scoring system to predict LAT/SEC. When used for the prediction of LAT/SEC, CHADS2/CHA2DS2-VASc scores displayed inadequate value; a better prediction of LAT/SEC may be achieved by combining AF type and echocardiographic parameters into a new scoring system.
