Putterman E, et al. - In this investigation, researchers studied the connection between the severity of ichthyosis and severity of alopecia, as well as described the severity of alopecia among patients with ichthyosis by genotype. Clinically, it is hard to predict which people are likely to experience hair loss and at what level of severity. An abnormal epidermal barrier function characterizes congenital ichthyoses. Scarring and nonscarring alopecia have been reported, however, the pathogenesis is not well understood.
