Association of the severity of alopecia with the severity of ichthyosis
JAMA Sep 18, 2019
Putterman E, et al. - Researchers intended to examine the correlation between the severity of ichthyosis and the severity of alopecia and to characterize the severity of alopecia among patients with ichthyosis (congenital ichthyoses are characterized by abnormal epidermal barrier function) by genotype. Scarring and nonscarring alopecia have been notified, however, the pathogenesis is not well understood. Clinically, it is hard to prognosticate which individuals are prone to experience hair loss and at what severity level. The question frequently arises whether alopecia is widespread among patients with more severe skin disease.
