Association of systemic inflammation and sarcopenia with survival in nonmetastatic colorectal cancer

Feliciano EMC, et al. – Associations of prediagnostic systemic inflammation with at–diagnosis sarcopenia were explored, as well as, whether or not these factors interacted to predict colorectal cancer (CRC) survival, adjusting for age, ethnicity, sex, body mass index, stage, and cancer site was researched. A link was discovered between prediagnosis inflammation and at–diagnosis sarcopenia. Inflammation and sarcopenia together doubled the risk of death. This finding indicated that these commonly collected biomarkers could enhance prognostication.
