Association of structural and functional cardiac changes with transcatheter aortic valve replacement outcomes in patients with aortic stenosis
JAMA Feb 13, 2019
Fukui M, et al. - In this cohort study, researchers confirmed the reproducibility of a proposed staging system and expanded the study findings by conducting a survival analysis and assessed the association of aortic stenosis staging with both cardiac and noncardiac post–transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) readmissions. According to findings, aortic stenosis staging seems to show a strong graded relationship between the extent of cardiac changes and post-TAVR all-cause mortality. The assessment of the extent of cardiac changes could improve patient care, risk stratification, prognosis assessment and shared decision making for patients requiring TAVR.
