Association of serum uric acid levels with primary open-angle glaucoma: A 5-year case–control study

Acta Ophthalmologica Apr 27, 2018

Li S, et al. - Researchers evaluated the serum uric acid (UA) concentrations in patients with primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) and assessed the relationship between serum UA concentration and glaucoma severity. Findings suggested that lower UA levels were seen in primary open-angle glaucoma patients. Nonetheless, UA levels were negatively associated with disease severity in male patients. Experts noted the lowest mean level of UA in the severe POAG group followed by the moderate POAG group, and the mild POAG group.
