Association of serum specific IgE levels with asthma in autumn pollen-induced allergic rhinitis: A retrospective analysis
Journal of Asthma May 03, 2019
Cui L, et al. - In patients with autumn pollen-induced allergic rhinitis, researchers assessed the onset of asthma in relation to serum specific IgE (sIgE) levels to Humulus and/or Artemisia pollen, by analyzing cross-sectional data. They performed face-to-face interviews in 1096 patients with autumn pollinosis. These subjects also underwent sIgE tests to Artemisia and Humulus. They reported the temporal sequence of allergic rhinitis and asthma. Positivity to Artemisia and/or Humulus by sIgE was evident in 1013 patients. The coexistence of autumn pollen-induced allergic rhinitis with seasonal asthma was frequently reported. In the presence of a higher sIgE level, a more pronounced incidence of asthma was reported.
