Association of serum nonesterified fatty acids with cardiovascular event in patients with chronic kidney disease
International Journal of General Medicine May 28, 2021
Wu C, et al. - Researchers assessed the prognostic significance of nonesterified fatty acid (NEFA), also well recognized as free fatty acid, on predicting cardiovascular events among patients suffering from chronic kidney disease (CKD). At baseline, 957 hospitalized patients with CKD in a stable clinical condition were enrolled. Thereafter, serum NEFA concentrations were recorded. A higher risk of cardiovascular events was observed in relation to increased serum NEFA levels, and it may serve as a new parameter predicting cardiovascular events in CKD cases, which may reinforce its potential impact in clinical practice.
