Association of serum lipid parameters with the SCORAD index and onset of atopic dermatitis in children
Pediatric Allergy and Immunology Oct 15, 2020
Kim JH, Lee SW, Yeon DK, et al. - Researchers determined whether and how dyslipidemia is related to atopic dermatitis in children. For this purpose, they analyzed disease onset, risk factors, as well as disease severity. In Subset I, a total of 248 children 7 year‐old in elementary school were analyzed and Subset II represented a retrospective long‐term follow‐up hospital based‐study, with 52,725 participants, performed from 1986 to 2016 that applied propensity score matching. Findings showed that an abnormal blood lipid profile in children was related to the presence of atopic dermatitis and the SCORAD (SCORing Atopic Dermatitis) index. A significantly greater risk of atopic dermatitis onset was noted in correlation with high concentrations of total cholesterol.
