Association of serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D with prevalence, incidence, and clearance of vaginal HPV infection in young women
The Journal of Infectious Diseases Dec 23, 2020
El-Zein M, Khosrow-Khavar F, Burchell AN, et al. - Researchers examined female participants of the HITCH cohort study for the correlation between serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D levels and genital human papillomavirus (HPV) prevalence, incidence, and clearance. HPV DNA was genotyped in vaginal samples and baseline serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D levels were quantified using Roche’s Linear Array and Total vitamin D assay, respectively. Findings yielded no evidence of a correlation between low vitamin D levels and raised HPV prevalence, acquisition, or clearance.
