Lofqvist CA, et al. - The corresponding risk of retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) by the levels of circulating ω-3 and ω-6 long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (LC-PUFAs) was studied herein. Experts concluded that the low levels of the ω-6 LC-PUFAs arachidonic acid (AA) postnatally were strongly related to the ROP development. For the prediction of ROP, evaluating postnatal AA fraction following the birth along gestational age (GA) could prove to be useful.
