Association of pre-operative troponin levels with major adverse cardiac events and mortality after noncardiac surgery: A systematic review and meta-analysis
European Journal of Anaesthesiology Oct 08, 2018
Shen JT, et al. - Considering the powerful predictive value of circulating cardiac troponin levels for prognosis in numerous clinical settings, researchers conducted this systematic review to summarize current evidence on how pre-operative troponin elevation are correlated with postoperative major adverse cardiac events and mortality in patients undergoing noncardiac surgery. For this work, 10 studies, including a total of 10,371 patients, met the eligibility criteria. Among patients undergoing noncardiac surgery, the current evidence demonstrates adverse cardiac events and mortality in significant correlation with pre-operative high troponin levels.
