Association of plasma pentraxin-3 levels with coronary risk factors and the lipid profile: A cross-sectional study in Japanese patients with stable angina pectoris
Heart and Vessels Jun 03, 2018
Morishita T, et al. - Researchers studied the links among the traditional risk factors [hypertension (HT), dyslipidemia (DL), diabetes mellitus (DM), obesity (body mass index: BMI > 25 kg/m2), and high age (> 75 years)], lipid profile, and pentraxin-3 in stable angina (SAP), compared with non-coronary artery disease (CAD) patients. They found that the pentraxin-3 level did not vary notably between patients in SAP and in non-CAD. Pentraxin-3 levels decreased with more risk factors in SAP patients. A positive association of pentraxin-3 with HDL and an inverse association with LDL was observed. After multivariate analysis, the observed negative impact of the cardiovascular risk factor burden on pentraxin-3 levels in SAP patients was indicative of their distinct roles in atherosclerosis.
