Association of persistent and severe postnatal depression with child outcomes
JAMA Psychiatry Feb 07, 2018
Netsi E, et al. - The authors aimed at examining the association between differing levels of persistence and severity of postnatal depression (PND) and long-term child outcomes. A substantial increase in the risk for adverse outcome in terms of all child measures was observed in association with persistent and severe PND. They recommended prioritizing women with persistent and severe postnatal depression for treatment because they are likely to continue to experience high levels of depressive symptoms and because of the high risk of adverse child development.
