Association of patient characteristics and tumor genomics with clinical outcomes among patients with non–small cell lung cancer using a clinicogenomic database

JAMA Apr 13, 2019

Singal G, et al. - In this investigation, researchers ascertained if a database that combines EHR-derived clinical data with comprehensive genomic profiling (CGP) could identify and extend non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) associations. Exploratory analyses replicated previously described associations between clinical and genomic characteristics, between driver mutations and targeted therapy response, and between tumor mutation burden and immunotherapy response, among patients with NSCLC included in a longitudinal database of clinical data linked to routine care results of CGP. These findings show the feasibility of creating a clinicogenomic database based on routine clinical experience and support further research and discovery in oncology to evaluate this approach.
