Association of parent training with child language development: A systematic review and meta-analysis
JAMA Pediatrics Jul 05, 2019
Roberts MY, et al. - In this systematic review and meta-analysis involving 5848 candidates, researchers studied the connection between parent training and language and communication outcomes in young children. Language and communication skills in children with primary or secondary language impairment and children at risk for language impairment were the main outcomes included. For child outcomes, moderate positive relationships have been found, and strong associations for parent outcomes have been found. Findings suggested an association of training parents to implement language and communication intervention techniques with improved outcomes for children and increased parent use of support strategies. These results may affect intervention and prevention directly.
