Association of palatine tonsil size and obstructive sleep apnea in adults
The Laryngoscope Dec 08, 2017
Jara SM, et al. - The link between palatine tonsil (PT) grade, PT volume, and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) severity was comprehensively analyzed in this trial, among U.S. adult patients. A strong connection was disclosed between subjective PT grade (vs. objective PT volume) with apnea–hypopnea index (AHI). These data suggest the space that the tonsils occupy within the oropharyngeal airway, rather than their actual measured volume. It could be more speculative of OSA severity in the study cohort.
