Association of paid sick leave laws with foodborne illness rates

Hsuan C, et al. – This mixed–methods study assessed the association between laws requiring employers to provide paid sick leave (PSL) and reduced foodborne illness rates, particularly laws that are more supportive of employees taking leave. Findings were indicative of a link between more supportive PSL laws and decreased foodborne illness rates and advocated caution when interpreting these because the trend is driven by campylobacteriosis, which has low person–to–person transmission.
