Association of obesity with risk of early-onset colorectal cancer among women
JAMA Jan 15, 2019
Liu PH, et al. - In this prospective cohort study involving 85,256 women, researchers studied the relationship between obesity and weight gain since early adulthood with the risk of early-onset colorectal cancer (CRC). From June 12, 2017, to June 28, 2018, the investigators performed statistical analysis. According to the findings, obese women (body mass index [BMI] ≥ 30) had an almost doubled risk of early-onset CRC vs those with a BMI of 18.5-22.9. Overall, the investigators concluded that obesity was linked to an increased risk of early-onset CRC among women.
