Association of O6-methylguanine-DNA methyltransferase protein expression with postoperative prognosis and adjuvant chemotherapeutic benefits among patients with stage II or III gastric cancer

JAMA Surgery Nov 18, 2017

Cao Y, et al. - Authors aimed to determine the postoperative prognostic significance of methylguanine-DNA methyltransferase (MGMT) in patients with resectable gastric cancer and its responsiveness to fluorouracil-based adjuvant chemotherapy. They recognized that positive expression of MGMT in gastric cancer was an independent, favorable prognostic factor. As per findings, incorporation of MGMT expression into the current TNM staging system could enhance the prognostic accuracy.
