Watkins SL, et al. - An investigation was carried out of the longitudinal connection between noncigarette tobacco use and subsequent cigarette smoking initiation among US youth. The findings brought to light an independent link between use of e-cigarettes, hookah, noncigarette combustible tobacco, or smokeless tobacco with cigarette smoking 1 year later. A rise was noted in the odds of progressing to cigarette use, through the use of more than one product.
