Association of Mohs reconstructive surgery timing with postoperative complications
JAMA Facial Plastic Surgery Sep 16, 2017
Miller MQ, et al. - This trial entailed an appraisal of the outcomes of Mohs micrographic surgery (MMS) reconstruction, in terms of patient- and surgery-specific variables, particularly the timing of repair. There did not appear to be any link between the timing of Mohs reconstructive surgery and complications. This data suggested that a delayed repair did not increase the risk of infection or flap failure. Variables related to an increased risk of postoperative complications comprised of smoking status, size of the defect, full-thickness defects, interpolated flaps with cartilage grafting, and the use of composite grafts.
