International Journal of Dermatology Feb 18, 2020

Aalemi AK, et al. - In this case-control study, researchers explored the correlation of obesity and metabolic syndrome with pediatric psoriasis in Afghanistan. This investigation was carried out at the dermatology department of Maiwand Teaching Hospital in Kabul city from March to December 2018. Children aged less than 18 years were included in this analysis. One hundred thirteen children (mean age was 13.9 ± 3.7 years) with psoriasis and 113 children (mean age was 13.4 ± 3.4 years) without psoriasis were contrasted. Compared with the control group, a family history of skin disorders was higher among children with psoriasis. According to findings, children with psoriasis were more likely to have metabolic syndrome and cardiovascular risk factors vs children without psoriasis.
