Association of mental stress–induced myocardial ischemia with cardiovascular events in patients with coronary heart disease
JAMA Nov 13, 2021
Vaccarino V, Almuwaqqat Z, Kim JH, et al. - Researchers herein examined if in patients with coronary heart disease, myocardial ischemia provoked by mental stress is linked with adverse cardiovascular events.
Data from two prospective cohort studies of patients with stable CHD [the Mental Stress Ischemia Prognosis Study (MIPS) and the Myocardial Infarction and Mental Stress Study 2 (MIMS2)] were analyzed.
There were a total of 918 participants.
In patients with coronary heart disease, mental stress–induced myocardial ischemia was significantly linked with an increased risk of cardiovascular death or nonfatal myocardial infarction.
