Quinn PD, et al. - The target of researchers was to contemplate the connection between preexisting mental health conditions and treatments and initiation of any opioid and long-term opioid therapy among adolescents. It was determined that commercially insured adolescents with many types of preexisting mental health conditions and treatments exhibited a more modest tendency to receive any opioid. Additionally, they were significantly more likely to subsequently transition to long-term opioid therapy relative to those without, despite low overall rates of long-term opioid therapy.
