Association of lithium in drinking water with dementia incidence

Kessing LV, et al. – Researchers desired to know whether the incidence of dementia in the general population covaries with long–term exposure to microlevels of lithium in drinking water. They suggested that long–term increased lithium exposure in drinking water might be correlated with a lower incidence of dementia in a nonlinear way, however, confounding from other factors related to the municipality of residence cannot be excluded.
