Association of increased levels of plasma tumor necrosis factor alpha with primary open-angle glaucoma
Clinical Ophthalmology Apr 19, 2018
Kondkar AA, et al. - Authors probed the relationship between plasma levels of TNF-α and primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) or its clinical indices in comparison to non-glaucomatous controls. Findings suggested an association of high systemic level of an inflammatory cytokine, TNF-α, with POAG. Experts did not note any statistical difference in age, gender, and systemic disease distribution. Also, as demonstrated by logistic regression analysis, the risk of POAG was most significantly affected by TNF-α level and not by age and sex.
