Association of improvement in fractional flow reserve with outcomes, including symptomatic relief, after percutaneous coronary intervention
JAMA Cardiology May 08, 2019
Fournier S, et al. - In this post hoc analysis of two randomized clinical trials (ie, FAME 1 and FAME 2), researchers focused on the prognostic utility of the improvement in fractional flow reserve (FFR) following percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) on patients’ symptoms and 2-year outcomes by analyzing data from patients undergoing FFR-guided PCI. With available pre- and post-PCI FFR values, a total of 639 patients were included in this study. According to the findings, the more FFR improves, the greater the symptomatic relief and the lower the event rate. This indicates that clinically useful information can be gained by measuring FFR before and after PCI.
