Association of high-sensitivity C-reactive protein in middle-aged and elderly Chinese people with hyperuricaemia and risk of coronary heart disease: A cross-sectional study
BMJ Open Oct 31, 2019
Xie M, Xie D, Yang Y, et al. - In this cross-sectional study involving 517 individuals (aged from 40 to 85 years) with hyperuricemia, which was diagnosed based on uric acid concentrations, researchers investigated the association between high-sensitivity CRP (hs-CRP) and coronary heart disease risk (CHD) risk. In all, 193 study participants were defined with high 10-year CHD risk. The investigators found that in individuals with hyperuricemia and higher serum hs-CRP level, ORs of relatively high 10-year CHD risk were increased. However, there was a not significant but borderline trend association, suggesting that more research is needed.
