JAMA Surgery Oct 26, 2017
Seib CD, et al. - This study included patients undergoing ambulatory general surgery operations and investigated the link between frailty and perioperative morbidity. Findings demonstrated that independent of age, type of anesthesia, and other comorbidities, frailty was related to increased perioperative morbidity in common ambulatory general surgery operations. Frailty was recommended to be considered by surgeons, rather than chronological age, when counseling and selecting patients for elective ambulatory surgery.
