Association of fluid administration with morbidity in cytoreductive surgery with hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy

Eng OS, et al. – This cohort study examines the association of intraoperative fluid administration and morbidity in patients undergoing cytoreductive surgery (CRS)/hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC). Observations revealed a significant increase in perioperative morbidity with intraoperative fluid administration in patients undergoing CRS/HIPEC. Fluid administration protocols that include standardized restrictive fluid rates could potentially help to reduce morbidity in patients undergoing CRS/HIPEC.
