JAMA Pediatrics Jan 04, 2019
Gay JC, et al. - Given that hospital readmission rates are widely used as a quality measure for hospitalized patients, researchers studied the relationship between index hospitalization length of stay (LOS) and pediatric readmissions by capitalizing on the natural variation in LOS across patients and hospitals. Shorter index hospitalization LOS was correlated with a higher risk of hospital readmission for some conditions in adult patients and this association has not been shown in children.
