Association of epistaxis with atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease
The Laryngoscope Dec 19, 2018
Kunz SM, et al. - Authors gauged the correlation between epistaxis and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. They included the patients from the tertiary-care ear, nose, and throat department at the University Hospital of Zurich between December 1, 2016 and June 1, 2017. Findings suggested close association of the occurrence of severe epistaxis with the prevalence of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. Accordingly, an elevated cardiovascular risk should be considered in the patients affected by epistaxis, which indicates the need for appropriate further medical assessment and preventive measures.
